Darren Shan - Cirque Du Freak 【A Living Nightmare】

The Cirque Du Freak saga is written by Darren Shan, which is also the name of the main character of the saga. The first book, 【A Living Nightmare】talks about the main character, Darren Shan, how he become a half vampire. It all started when one of Darren's friend stole a poster from his brother, the poster is about a circus named Cirque du Freak meaning Circus of Freaks in French. Darren and his friends decided to go have a look at the circus. Steve, one of Darren's friends went to get the ticket, but unfortunately, he only got two and there are four of them. Steve was going of course, since he is the one who got the tickets, but who will be going with him? Steve cut a stack of paper into the same size as the ticket and mix the ticket in the box with the papers and threw them into the sky, whoever caught the ticket gets it. It was Darren who caught the ticket, together with Steve, Darren went to the show. The show was fabulous! But for some reasons, when a man called Larten Crepsley appeared on the stage with his spider, Madame Octa, Steve looked like as if he saw a ghost. After the show, Steve told Darren to go home by himself, Darren, of course, didn't listen to him and decided to follow him. Darren was shocked when Steve told the vampire Larten Crepsley, whose true name is Vur Horston, that he wanted to become a vampire. Mr. Crepsley refused because Steve was evil. After that, Darren stole Mr. Crepsley's pet spider, Madame Octa, and then Madame Octa bit Steve when Darren and Steve were playing with her. Darren went back to Mr. Crepsley to ask for the antidote for Madame Octa's poison, Mr. Crepsley agreed to give it to him but in return he have to become his assistant and live as a half vampire. Darren agreed. After saving Steve, Darren ran away from Mr. Crepsley and tried to live a normal life. Unfortunately, when he found out he almost killed his sister, he went back to the old vampire. The vampire faked Darren's death and dug him out in the night after he was buried by his family. Everyone thought Darren died except one person, Steve. Steve noticed that Darren have become a vampire and was envious of Darren since he was the one who wanted be a vampire. At the graveyard where Darren was dig up by Mr. Crepsley, Steve swore to Darren by his blood that he would hunt down Darren and Mr. Crepsley to the end of the world.
